Slowly but surely Amberstorm saw the familiar rock peaks poking up ahead. As if waiting in anticipation for her arrival the air was silent and the wind even seemed to have caught a snag leaving the air still around her as she strode closer and closer. A small ground squirrel was held in her maw from an earlier catch in the fields. Her legs still aching from all the running she had done after those darned rabbits. It was her fur catching on the grass again making that tell-tale rustle and giving away her position to the rabbits again. She shook her head shaking any frustration from her head. So a few rabbits got away what was that in the grand scheme of things? She'd make up for it with some rats or whatever else was hiding under the rocks.

She moved closer and suddenly the rustling caught her ear. She reached the edge of the grass and crouched down next to bush hiding as she assessed the situation. Her ears perked forward and her lips curled up twitching as she scoped out her targets. There were a couple squirrels scrambling around the other side of the rock just under it. From her crouched position she could their little feet scurrying around. She started to creep closer and closer making sure to keep her feet light to not alarm the squirrels to her presence. Finally she found herself prime for the rush and her hackles rose shaking just before she burst forth with motion.

She scrambled forward reaching the rock in mere seconds swiping her claws under and scooping out the squirrels from their hiding place. The chase was on as they were quick to scramble away but they had no chance - Or so it seemed. She caught one deftly and took off after the other squirrel. Just as she was about to catch the squirrel it popped down into a hole but it was too late Amberstorm was already mid dive. Realizing she was too late she tried to readjust but to no avail she tumbled rump over head awkwardly landing back on her back. "Son of a Badger!" She exclaimed under her breath. "Oh how they would laugh if they saw you right now" She said to herself.

Lithe tawny legs pushed their way through WindClan territory. Time was of the essence, of course. An opportunity for a midday nap was flitting out of reach as the sun continued its journey down the horizon and Rabbitear certainly wouldn’t stand for that. He lived for the noon snoozes, in sporadic places around the windy moors. He liked to shake it up - keep it interesting. Planned variety was the key to not dying of boredom from the repetitive nature of clan life. Hunt to feed the clan, eat to feed yourself, hunt to feed the clan. Repeat and repeat and repeat. Not surprisingly, the cycle got old rather quickly to the Abyssinian warrior. Sometimes he napped to merely fill the time. Better than wandering aimlessly around camp, fielding idly tedious small talk from his clan mates. He’d rather take a tumble off the gorge than be faced with ‘lovely weather we’re having today, isn’t it?’ by - shudder- Cypressnose.

So here he was, bounding across the moors on a journey to his sleeping destination of the day: outlook rock. It had lovely little crevices, where the sun only touched half of, that provided the perfect balance of warmth and shade in what was becoming quite a sweltering day. As he neared his aim his nose picked up a familiar scent, definitely WindClan. He frowned, realizing that his spot had been compromised, and considered for a moment turning back and returning to one of his other hideaways. But, a curious thing he was, instead creeped along the lower down rocks, ears perked.

A black she-cat, with under tones of amber, was furiously chasing squirrels. Legs churning and claws flying, she possessed much more energy than he ever could. Just watching her exhausted him. Amberstorm, he recognized, the name coming to mind as her flurry of limbs conjured up images of a raging storm. Rightly named, it seemed.

She was doing well, with one unlucky prey already lifeless on the ground, until the wry little squirrel she was pursuing scurried into a concealed hiding place. The she-cat, unable to slow her momentum, unceremoniously stumbled into the hard ground, heels over head. She came to a halt on her back and Rabbitear couldn’t help but to let out a sharp chuckle. Very, very graceful. He emerged from his stealthy position, leaping onto the higher altitude rock she had wiped out on with a powerful coil of his hind legs.

"Oh, how they would laugh if they saw you right now."

“Do I count as they?” the tom cat murmured, strolling closer to his red-tinged clan mate, a flicker of coy laughter pulling at his gaze, “because I certainly am amused.”

He stood over her, eyebrows raised.

Amberstorm flipped over to her stomach giving a lick to her puffed out chest. Breathing heavily she was already going over every move in her head. She simply had to learn to be less chaotic, the fast moves were perfect for fighting but in the hunt it held her back.

Do I count as they?

Mid-thought her ears perked up at the sound of a sharp chuckle and she scanned the area for where the sound originated. Looking up at the rock to her left she let out a groan. Of course. The golden brown cat sat leisurely at the top of the rock looking down at her. She recognized Rabbitear almost immediately from encountering him around camp and beyond, an incorrigible layabout and flirt from her estimation. A bit of embarrassment at her lack of decorum was not beyond her however and she scrambled up to her paws in a huff a few licks to her paws as she sniffed around. There was no prey with him and he seemed to be alone.

"Well .. er.. hello there Rabbitear" Walking foward she leapt up to the other rock to his right. Up on level ground she relaxed. "I don't suppose I found you on a hunting trip?" She asked dripping with sarcasm. She'd bet her tail he was skirting his duty yet again for a nap out in the sun.

Perched, hawk-like, on the sun-warmed rock, Rabbitear settled himself onto his haunches, leisurely lapping at his paw before dragging it over the fur adorning his forehead. The she-cat below him, looking a bit startled and more than a bit abashed to be caught floundering, scurried to her feet. Amberstorm, with a temper not unlike his own, was not exactly… a huge hit around camp. Known to be rather harsh, with a curt way of communicating and a cantankerous manner, she had sent more than one apprentice running with their tail between their legs.

Of course, that hardly mattered to the equally irritable tom cat - shining reputations were fantastically overrated, after all. She would be a pretty she-cat, with bright yellow orbs and a nicely proportioned face, if it weren’t for the mess of a coat hanging off her formidable frame. He regarded her, head cocked sideways and olive eyes narrowing in consideration.

Actually, perhaps the tangles suited her. An outward reflection of her inner chaos, just as nature intended. Just like how his smooth, shiny, and immaculate tawny coat was a representation of him. Ha. Now on his right, and at eye-level, Amberstorm seemed to be recovering from her tumble moments earlier, looking to ease slightly into the rock beside him.

"I don't suppose I found you on a hunting trip?”

With this, Rabbitear flicked his ear, speaking in as innocent a tone as he could muster without overselling it.

“Well, of course! - what else would I be doing?” He flicked his tai in the general direction of where the wry little squirrel had evaded her capture minutes ago.

“But, it hardly looks like I need to be considering how… advanced your hunting style is. What exactly do you call that move?”

Hi everyone,
This announcement is being made with an extremely heavy heart, and we know it may not be a popular one. However, Alee and I have made the decision that we are going to be closing Chasing the Sun by the end of the month. Originally, we were going to wait till the end of the activity check before making the call either way, as no doubt some of you picked up from my introduction to the check itself. But, after seeing some of the most recent hiatuses and their updates, and talking with a few members who will not be continuing on the site, we’ve decided at this stage in time, it’s the right time to bring things to a close.

Chasing the Sun is a play-by-post roleplay based on the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. We are set in the original forest in an alternative universe from the books, where SkyClan were never forced from the forest and the characters we have known and loved have not existed. We have a 150-word minimum and a sandbox roleplay setting that does not have an overarching plot, only those that members form together. The world is there to shape by the characters than inhabit it, growing the forest into something unique from what we have seen before. THUNDERCLAN VERSES BADGERS
Due to a change of high ranks that is to take place, this plot has been updated and modified. if you were originally involved, please make sure to check the thread and voice if you still want involvement as soon as possible! The Forest Prince is the the current thread leading into the start of this plot.

WIND/SHADOW VERSES ROGUES
Redstar, Rosestar and their fellow high ranks of WindClan and ShadowClan have met on the border of the clans and formed a truce, after it has become aware that a group of rogues has become a threat. Both leaders have addressed this issue in their clan meetings, with Rosestar setting the rule that until the rogues have been dealt with, cats are not to leave camp alone.

WINDCLAN - MEDICINE CAT PLOT
A significant change has taken place in the direction of this plot, and the main post has now been edited to reflect such. We are still looking for WindClan cats to be involved, so if you have a cat you’d like to have something happen to, places are still open.

SKYCLAN VERSES RIVERCLAN
With the border clash narrowly avoided by Pinestar’s intervention, steam has yet to ease, as the SkyClan patrol stand in camp to address the clan getting too ambitious. Meanwhile, with the change in leadership of RiverClan causing discomfort across the clan, there is no doubt that everyone is on edge. Another clash is imminent.
